It not only helps in protecting your property by constantly recording the footage but also deters potential criminals. The visibility or the sight of the security camera and warning decals enables the criminals to spot them and they are less likely to commit any crime. In addition, the CCTV cameras also capture the images or videos which can be helpful in identifying any intruder while investigations are taking place. Here are some of the Various benefits of CCTV systems over other security devices.

* Reduced Insurance Premium: Proper implementation of the security systems in the homes, offices or other key areas reduces the insurance premium from up to 5% to 20%. As there is complete security, the insurance companies offer a better price for the insurance policy of such a place (all premium discounts are up to the insurance companies discretion)

* For Home Owners: CCTV Security cameras help the owners to constantly monitor the activities going on in their home. The nanny cams are very popular to monitor behavior of the babysitters towards children. Bullet cameras and hidden cameras are ideal for this purpose.

* Checking Footage: Using the security cameras network, the user can easily check the footage of the application area from anywhere in the world via an internet connection. The home owner or business owner can view the property from select cell phone and pictures can be sent directly to your phone if a sensor is activated while you are gone. The footage thus recorded also helps in the future investigations.

Below are some true events that have taken place in the past.

Could this have been a different situation if there would have been cameras at the property?

It probably would have never happened.

I think someone tried to break in to my home.

Today while watering my vegetables I discovered some very large 11 size work boot impressions in my backyard.  I also noticed that it looks like someone tried to brake into my sliding glass door - where the latch is it looks like someone tried to pry something into the metal.

I have always felt very safe in my hood because it is a nice neighborhood and all my neighbors know each other and keep a watch out for each other.  And I have a dog with a ferocious bark.

But, after the recent discoveries I am feeling less safe. So, I went over and talked to some neighbors and we organized an unofficial neighborhood watch.  Since, I am the only single female in the neighborhood the men have always been protective of me and helping me with things that need muscles.  But, today I was so impressed by my neighbors stepping up to help each other any way they can. We all exchanged cell phone numbers and discussed how important it is to have each others cell # in case of burglary or fire while a pet is trapped inside (my next door neighbors on both sides have a key to my home in case they need to let my dog out for whatever reason).

What do you do to keep your home and hood safe?

Robbery And Home Invasion May Be Related

Posted: 7:45 am EDT April 23, 2009Updated: 7:51 am EDT April 23, 2009

ORANGE COUNTY, FL. -- Investigators in Orange County are trying to determine if an armed robbery and home invasion in the Winter Park area are connected. A 23-year-old woman says a man held her at gunpoint in her driveway on London Road and robbed her over the weekend. About 24 hours later, and less than two miles away, a man squeezed through a 25-year-old woman's bathroom window on Balfour Drive. He also held at her gunpoint before running away. "I don't want anyone to get hurt so I really want this guy to get caught," said one of the unidentified victims. A neighbor's surveillance camera on London Road captured the intruder's minivan speeding off. Investigators say right now they do not have good description of either man.

Residents Unhappy With Police After Break-Ins

Posted: 1:13 pm EDT May 27, 2009Updated: 1:39 pm EDT May 27, 2009

SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. -- Officers say there were nine home burglaries in one week in a Sanford neighborhood and they say police are not doing enough. Residents are appealing to the Seminole County Sheriff's Office for help, but police say they are already working with the sheriff's office to help fight crime in Magnolia Heights. The Magnolia neighborhood watch group is worried now more than ever and say they are unhappy. Last week there were nine residential burglaries in just seven days between Mellonville Avenue and Celery Avenue in Sanford. Police told Eyewitness News they are aware of the problem. "We are doing everything we have available and doing everything we possibly can and using all resources available to us to solve the problem," said Michael Horan of the Sanford Police Department. Police say the break-ins are happening in broad day light between seven in the morning and noon. Residents living near Mellonville Avenue say they are scared to let their children play outside. The neighborhood watch group is fed up with the Sanford Police Department and wants the Seminole County Sheriff's Office to start patrolling the city streets where the burglaries are happening. The sheriff's office said they are already beefing up its patrols in the area. "We have been partnering with the sheriffs office and have deputies assigned to street crimes unit and street crimes unit has been deployed in the area and directed to patrol," said Horan.

Winter Springs man wakes up to find burglar in home

This is scary. A Winter Springs resident was awakened a little before 4 a.m. today because his dog was barking. He went downstairs and confronted a burglary who fled from the home on Harbor Winds Court empty-handed. The homeowner chased him and the burglar fled to the nearby Park on Laurel Oaks apartment complex. Acting on a tip, Winter Springs Police went to one of the apartments and found the suspect there, Winter Springs police Capt. Kevin Brunelle said. Here's the scary part. Lots of the victim's property -- things like a laptop computer, Ipod, video game -- were found in the apartment. Remember he was empty-handed when he fled from the homeowner."He made at least two trips into the home," Brunelle said. Joshua Allen Brunner, 17, whose last known address was in Winter Springs, faces charges of occupied burglary, burglary to a conveyance and grand theft, Brunelle. At the time of his arrest Brunner was on probation on several counts of battery on a law enforcement officer, he said.

Ignoring knock or doorbell could lead to burglary

Who hasn't ignored a knock at the front door. Maybe you're lounging around in your underwear. Or maybe you just don't want to be bothered. I remember as a kid having to hide in a back room when my mom saw the Fuller Brush man coming because she didn't want to deal with him. It's not a good idea these days to ignore a knock or the door bell. That's because there have been a rash of daytime burglaries pulled off by crooks who look for residences where nobody is home. They usually pound on the front door. When they get no answer, they kick in the door. Investigators don't know for sure that there is a gang of crooks pulling off most or all of the crimes, said Seminole County Sheriff's spokeswoman Kim Cannaday. The crimes have happened in the north end of the county as well as Winter Springs and Oviedo. The best thing to do is to respond to the knock or doorbell, even if you don't open the door, Cannaday said. "They don't want to commit an occupied burglary." Because the bad guys often pound loudly on the door to make sure there is no one home, Cannaday suggests yelling out that you are dialing 911.
